《中國古代社會與文化英文教程》是高等院校文化素質(zhì)類通識課教材，旨在通過對中國古代社會文化諸方面的學(xué)習(xí)以及相關(guān)英語表達(dá)方式的訓(xùn)練，使學(xué)生了解古代中華民族風(fēng)貌，并能以規(guī)范、流暢的表達(dá)方式對外介紹、弘揚(yáng)中華文化，讓世界了解古代中國。
本教材融知識性和趣味性于一體，圖文并茂地提供了一種展現(xiàn)古代中國風(fēng)采的視覺方式。在講授過程中，充分利用電子教程的資源優(yōu)勢，根據(jù)所授內(nèi)容插入相應(yīng)圖片和簡短音視頻資料，以凸顯重要的主題，使課程內(nèi)容生動、直觀，符合90后大學(xué)生的認(rèn)知心理。
全書共10個單元，每單元分為兩部分，通過聽說讀寫等多種訓(xùn)練方式幫助學(xué)生了解并能夠用英語介紹中華文化。Section A通過閱讀和寫作的訓(xùn)練方式使學(xué)生掌握如何介紹中國古代社會與文化的方方面面。Section B以聽說訓(xùn)練的方式提高學(xué)生的英語口頭表達(dá)能力和跨文化交際能力。
第二版根據(jù)四六級考試改革的趨勢， 調(diào)整了部分篇章的內(nèi)容和難度，并對習(xí)題進(jìn)行了更換。
