《美國總統演講名篇賞析》秉承"閱讀中外經典，通識人類文化"的大學通識教育指導思想，以的美國演講修辭網中選出的Top100 Speeches和《美國總統就職演說精選》(王建華，江西人民出版社，2008)等資料為基本依據，并參考筆者對美國總統演講的閱讀、研究與教學經驗，精選美國總統演講16篇(其中就職演講10篇，就重大問題發表的其他演講6篇)。把文學(總統演講)與修辭賞析和美國歷史、文化知識的系統介紹有機結合起來，順應了大學英語教學改革的新要求，有其獨到的特色。
徐中川，華東師范大學外語學院英語語言文學碩士，現為中國海洋大學外國語學院講師。多年來一直從事大學英語教學和英語詞匯記憶、測試及翻譯研究。近年來主編、獨立編著或翻譯，并由中國水利水電出版社、上海科技出版社、青島出版社等出版的英語書籍共十余種，總字數超過660萬字，主要有：《10000英語高頻詞匯分級突破》(主編)，《考研英語詞匯分級+立體記憶法》(及時作者)，《葡萄酒百科全書》(合譯)等。
